Max Morley holds the Bachelor of Music, Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of North Texas. He joined the music faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas as trumpet specialist in 1971 after teaching in the Odessa Texas Public Schools. While directing bands in Odessa, he held the principal trumpet chair in the Midland Odessa Symphony Orchestra.
His former teachers are John Haynie and Earl D. Irons.
Dr. Morley was active throughout his career as a trumpet performer, clinician, and adjudicator. He produced eleven educational recordings. His studio alumni enjoy success as educators and performers throughout the United States.
